Mick & Sandra Hearn Memorial 4's Tournament

Hertfordshire Carpet Bowls Association has the pleasure of hosting the inaugural Mick & Sandra Hearn Memorial 4’s Tournament which is being held at Ware Drill Hall, 17 Amwell End, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 9HP

Part of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Woodlands View Nursing Home, who took such good care of Mick during his illness.

An entry form can be found on the "MICK & SANDRA HEARN MEM' 4'S" tab of the website (Page next to this one). The closing date for entries for this event will be Sunday 25th August or when 40 entries are reached (whichever occurs first). Due to the limitation on the number of entries please send back your form early to avoid disappointment.

Please support this event and lets try and get the full 40 entries so that we can make it a really competitive tournament but more importantly raise money for a really good cause.

The Eastern Counties Carpet Bowls Association (ECCBA) was held at New Astley Club in Newmarket on Thursday 20th June.

All current committee officers were re-appointed (unopposed), a copy of the minutes can be found in the documents section.

No success at Champion of Champions for Herts

The Hertfordshire team competed at the ECBA Champion of Champions event at the Norbreck hotel in Blackpool over the weekend.

Unfortunately none of the four teams were successful. The singles, triples and fours all won 4 of their 7 games, losing the other three.

The pairs won 1, drew 2 and lost 4 of their 7 matches. Full results and photos will be the website later in the week

Littleport Village Hall 4's Tournament

Littleport are hosting a 4's tournament on Sunday 11th August at Littleport Leisure Community Centre.

The entry fee is £10 per team and the closing date for entries is 24th July 2013. An entry form can be found on the ECCBA website (see links)

and will also appear in the documents section of this website later in the week.

ECBA Champion of Champions

The ECBA Champion of Champions event takes place this coming weekend at the Norbreck Hotel in Blackpool.

This event sees the champions of each discipline (singles, pairs, triples & fours) from the member counties of the ECBA compete to become National Champion.

The team selecting Hertfordshire is detailed below;

Pete Cook - Singles

Mary Cobbold & Martin Jenness - Pairs

Tom Slade, Rebecca Hearn & Craig Hearn - Triples

Dave Smith, Andy Cobbold, Marilyn Cook & David Danby - Fours

New Committe Members Appointed

At the AGM last week the following people were appointed on to the committee;

Mike Bennett - Chairman (Replacing Mick Cook)

Martin Jenness - County Selection Committee (Replacing Mary Cobbold)

Martin Jenness - ECBA Representative (Replacing Rebecca Hearn)

Pete Cook - ECCBA Representative (Replacing Rebecca Hearn)

Pete Cook also agreed to take up position of Development Officer to try and encourage some of the teams that dropped out of the league to come back and also to try and attract new bowlers/clubs into the league.

Hertfordshire's Annual General Meeting takes place on Thursday 30th May at Essendon Village Hall. All current committee members are willing to stand for another term with the exception of the Chairman (Mick Cook) and a County Team Selector (Mary Cobbold)
