Season Perofrmance ECCBA League Games Only

After our final league game of the season on Sunday (20-03-16) we now have a final season points total for ECCBA league games only. Congratulations go to Ian Carter who is the highest points scorer with 24/30 losing just a single game against Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. Jason Ellis was in second place with 23 points closely followed by Mary Cobbold and Marilyn Cook (22 points), Roy Harden 21 points and Dave Smith 20 points.

Hertfordshire 24-12 Bedfordshire

Herefordshire finished up their ECCBA league season with a good 24-12 win at home to Bedfordshire. You can read the full match report under;

The win was enough to secure second place in the league, finishing on 92 points agonisingly a single point behind Cambridgeshire in second place.

Congratulations to Suffolk who secured the league for the sixth straight year.

Stanstead Abbotts win County Triples

Marilyn Cook, Mick Cook and Pete Cook of Stanstead Abbotts won the county triples, held at Ware Drill Hall, on Sunday 28th February. They won a good final 9-5 against Thomas Ellis, Ron Hart and Jack Smalley of Symonds Green.

Season Performance Updated

After the recent league fixture against Essex the season points total has now been updated, the updated sheet can be found under;

Jason Ellis maintained his two point lead at the top of the table two with 31 points from 25 matches played. Mary Cobbold is in second place on 29 points from the same number of games and Marilyn Cook is a further point back. Pete Cook is in 4th place on 26 points from 19 matches and Roy Harden is a point further back having played just 17 matches.

 

Hertfordshire win at Essex

Hertfordshire secured a narrow 19-17 win over Essex in our ECCBA League Fixture held at Braintree Leisure Centre on Sunday 28th February. The full match report can be fund under;

The win leaves us in 5th place in the table on 68 points. However, the league table with the exception of Suffolk is very tight. Suffolk lead the way on 99, Norfolk are on 70, Essex on 69, Cambridgeshire and

 

ourselves on 68 and Bedfordshire on 58.

 

County Triples Draw

The draw for the county triples being held at Ware Drill Hall on Sunday 28th February has been made. Unfortunately there are just sixteen teams competing this year, six lower than the twenty two teams who competed last year.

Group 1

 

 

The defending champions (and English Champions) D Danby of Braughing have been drawn in group one. It will be a repeat of last years final in the very first game of the day as they play A Luedtke of Little Hadham. Joining them in group 1 is S Palmer of Stanstead Abbotts, S Caller of Great Amwell and multiple previous winner C Hearn of Symonds Green.

 

 

Group 2

 

 

The 2014 winners P Cook of Stanstead Abbotts have been drawn in group one alongside J Pullen of Symonds Green, M Forrest of Bedmond, V Rowson of Shenley, club mates G Barraclough of Stanstead Abbotts and R Grethe of Braughing.

 

 

Group 3

 

 

P Harris of Bedmond is joined in group 3 by I Fennell of Shenley, M Langley also of Shenley, A Cobbold of Stanstead Abbotts/Essendon and J Smalley of Symonds Green.

Results from the first division

 

Stanstead Abbotts 8-0 Braughing

Essendon 2-6 Symonds Green

Stanstead Abbotts 6-2 Essendon

 

Stanstead Abbotts moved to the top of the 1st division with a good 8-0 win at home against Braughing. Symonds Green kept on their heels with an impressive 6-2 away win at Essendon. A 6-2 home win over Essendon opened up a six point gap for Stanstead Abbotts at the halfway stage. Stanstead Abbotts are top with 26 points from their 4 matches. They lead Symonds Green by six points who have 20 points from their four games. Essendon are in third with 16 points from their 4 games. Braughing have work to do to avoid an immediate return to the 2nd division as they have 8 points from 4 games played. Little Hadham have just the 2 points so far but have only played 2 fixtures.

Hertford Heath 4-4 Great Amwell

 

Bedmond 8-0 Hertford Heath

 

Great Amwell 2-6 Shenley

 

 

Hertford Heath remained on top of the 2nd division however the 8-0 loss at Bedmond looks like it has potentially cost them the 2nd division title. They have now completed their matches and have 25 points. Bedmond are just the one point behind but have two games to play (away to Shenley and Great Amwell). Great Amwell suffered a 6-2 loss at home to Shenley which looks like it may have cost them an immediate return to the first division. They will need to beat Bedmond 8-0 (+25 shots) to overhaul Hertford Heath. The win for Shenley moves the up to 13 points from their five games and now have chance to finish above Great Amwell.

SCAPA Cup Results

Symonds Green having won the away fixture against Stanstead Abbotts 6-2 secured a comfortable passage into the last four with a 6-2 win at home. Taking the match 12 (83) – 4 (42) on aggregate. They will play the winner of Little Hadham and Braughing in the semi final.

Essendon trailing 6-2 from the first leg overturned the deficit with an 8-0 home win over Hertford Heath securing a 10 (66) – 6 (65) aggregate win. They will play Shenley in the other semi final. Great Amwell unfortunately were unable to raise a team to complete the fixtures and have therefore withdrawn.
