Division 2 Result

Posted by Pmcook1 on February 28, 2014 at 8:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Shenley hosted Little Hadham on Wednesday (26-04-14) in the second division. Little Hadham come into the match top of the league but Shenleys confidence was probably high on the back of some good recent results.

Shenley won the match 6-2 (points) +17 (shots). The victory for Shenley means that just 6 points separate the top four teams in the 2nd division. The 2 points for Little Hadham extends their lead at the top of the table but other teams below them have games in hand.

Friendly Triples Tournament

Posted by Pmcook1 on February 24, 2014 at 6:20 AM Comments comments (3)

Yesterday (23-02-14), Hertfordshire hosted a friendly triples tournament with members of the South East Special Olympics team. The event was hosted at Stanstead Abbotts Parish Hall.

Eight members of the SE Special Olympics (along with their carers and some parents) attended the event. Which saw two members of HCBA (and Neil from Suffolk and Jason from Cambridgeshire) team up with one member of the SE Olympics Team.

The eight teams were split into 4 groups with each team playing the others in the group. At the mid way point through the day we stopped for lunch and then continued the rest of the group games. At the end of the group games 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th in group A played off against the teams finishing in the same position in the other group.

Medals were awarded to the SE Olympics team at the end of the day. The money made at the end of the day was given back to the SE Olympics team who have to raise funding for themselves and had to pay for the hire of the mini bus on the day.

A fantastic day was had by all, with many of the Herts bowlers saying they enjoyed the day more than playing in a competitive tournament. Thank you and well done to everybody who attended, helped with equipment, raffle and refreshments. The food was delicious and the whole day run smoothly without any problems. A special mention to Rebecca who arranged the whole day and has built up the relationship with the SE Special Olympics team to enable this event to take place.

To see photos of the day go to the photos section of the website where an album has been created for this event.

Friendly Triples Tournament

This Sunday (23-02-14) sees the South East Special Olympics come to Hertfordshire for a friendly triples tournament, being held at Stanstead Abbotts Parish Hall. Rebecca & Craig have assisted the SE Special Olympics in hosting tournaments before and we have also loaned them some equipment.

This first event sees just 8 teams compete and if this is successful we may look to host the event every year possible with more entrants to be held at the drill hall. A member of the SE Special Olympics will team up with two bowlers from Herts and other counties and play against other teams in their group (two groups of 4). 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th from each group will then play off against the team finishing in the same position in the other group.

Results from the day will be available on the website later next week.

1st Division Results

Symonds Green travelled to Braughing last week for their division 1 league game. With just a point seperating them in the table it was likely to be a close game. Braughing won both fours games before Symonds Green battled back to take a win and a draw from the pairs.

The final score finished 5-3 (points) +10 (shots) in Braughings favour.

Last night (20-02-14) Stanstead Abbotts travelled to Symonds Green for their final league game of the season. An 8-0 win would be enough to secure the title but more realistically 2 points would mean that only Essendon could catch them. Stanstead Abbotts managed to win both fours games and secure a draw in one of the pairs to win 5-3 (points) -17 (shots).

The win means that Essendon require 22 points from their final 3 matches (Braughing home & away and Parsonage away) to prevent Stanstead Abbotts winning the first division for the very first time. The battle below to stay in the first division looks like going down to the wire with Symonds Green on 26 points (from 7 games), Braughing 24 points (from 6 games) and Essendon on 22 points (from 5 games), Parsonage will need two big victories to have any chance as they have 12 points (from 6 games).

2nd Division Result

Shenley travelled to Bedmond for their 2nd division match and will be reasonably happy with a narrow 5-3 defeat.

The win moves Bedmond to the top of the league and the 3 points for Shenley means they gain ground on the teams immediately above them. The final result was 5-3 (points) +18 (shots) in Bedmond's favour.

Heavy Defeat for Herts at Cambridgeshire

Posted by Pmcook1 on February 17, 2014 at 4:30 AM Comments comments (1)

Hertfordshire played their 4th ECCBA league game of the season at Milton on Sunday (16-02-14). Despite going into the match high on confidence and 3 points above Cambridgeshire in the league table we suffered a heavy 28-8 defeat.

We underperformed and were out bowled on the day and seemed to struggle on the quickish, swinging carpets and always seemed to be bowling a foot or more heavy. This result means we slip to fourth in the table (behind and Essex on shots) and will now have to score more against Suffolk in our final game then Essex score against Norfolk to finish 3rd.

SCAPA Result

Posted by Pmcook1 on February 14, 2014 at 7:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Symonds Green (defending champions) hosted Stanstead Abbotts last night in the 2nd leg of their SCAPA Cup quarter final.

Trailing 6-2 from the first leg Symonds Green managed to win the triples and fours (both tight games to level the scores up). They won the pairs convincingly, however as they had inferior shots they still needed at least 1 point from the singles game. They managed to do that securing the point they need on the last end.

Symonds Green won 7-1 (points) 37-23 (shots) on the night and progressed to the semi final with an aggregate score of 9-7(points) (54-69) shots. In the semi final they will either play Essendon or Parsonge.
