Friendly Triples Tournament

Posted by Pmcook1 on February 24, 2014 at 6:20 AM

Yesterday (23-02-14), Hertfordshire hosted a friendly triples tournament with members of the South East Special Olympics team. The event was hosted at Stanstead Abbotts Parish Hall.

Eight members of the SE Special Olympics (along with their carers and some parents) attended the event. Which saw two members of HCBA (and Neil from Suffolk and Jason from Cambridgeshire) team up with one member of the SE Olympics Team.

The eight teams were split into 4 groups with each team playing the others in the group. At the mid way point through the day we stopped for lunch and then continued the rest of the group games. At the end of the group games 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th in group A played off against the teams finishing in the same position in the other group.

Medals were awarded to the SE Olympics team at the end of the day. The money made at the end of the day was given back to the SE Olympics team who have to raise funding for themselves and had to pay for the hire of the mini bus on the day.

A fantastic day was had by all, with many of the Herts bowlers saying they enjoyed the day more than playing in a competitive tournament. Thank you and well done to everybody who attended, helped with equipment, raffle and refreshments. The food was delicious and the whole day run smoothly without any problems. A special mention to Rebecca who arranged the whole day and has built up the relationship with the SE Special Olympics team to enable this event to take place.

To see photos of the day go to the photos section of the website where an album has been created for this event.

Throughly enjoyable days bowling. It was great to play with the SE special olympics team, what other sport can all abilities compete on level terms and have so much fun as well. Looking forward to next year.

Superb day. Really enjoyed it. Bowls is meant to be a fully inclusive game and Herts is showing the rest of the ECBA what that really means.
I can't wait for next years event, more pressure and expectation in a game like that than any normal club game.
