With so many clubs struggling to find enough bowlers what can we do to encourage more people to take up the game.

I think the main problem is that people don't actually know that the game / clubs exist. This is perfectly illustrated by the new club I have started at Anstey. One of the bowlers there used to live in Stanstead Abbotts but had no idea that there was a club in the village.

We discussed at the committee meeting last week Alan's idea of producing leaflets for members to distribute around their village. We will be going ahead with something like this shortly.

Another thing that I've done tonight is to send emails to affiliated outdoor bowls clubs in herts to see if their members may be interested in taking up carpet bowls and making them aware of this website. I've sent out 75 emails to various clubs so will see what kind of response we get.

is there anything else that we could/should be doing???

I feel that raising awarness is the right way to go. How that is achieved is open to suggestion but Alan's idea is one to follow up.
