At our club it seems to go in fits and starts. Without doubt the best way of gaining numbers is to attract families. It's a difficult problem that has never gone away. I remember the days of clubs like shenley, woolmer green, symonds green and a few others that had the problem of too many members. Surely the best advice is persistence with local advertising and making sure that when you do attract a few people to come along and give carpet bowls a try the right person takes them in hand and makes it as clear and interesting as an introduction can be.
Agree with this, I know it's also a problem with more than one club that the reason they don't compete in the league is beacuse they don't have anybody that wants/can drive long distances.
Craig love your attitude to bowls and how passionate you are about it (like me), can you let me know when you are avilable to give me a refresher introduction as I've not been involved since my last trip to the Norbreck.....
I would love to give you a refresher but unfortunately during my last visit to the oasis we call the norbreck one of hertfordshires bowlers brought his non playing girlfriend with him and all she did was take the mickey and enjoy herself. The norbreck as we all know is not a venue to enjoy yourself it's a serious event for serious people!!!
