After last Sunday's tournament, I'm keen to find out how everybody thought the tournament went? I've posed some questions below; We raised about £420, is there anything else we could have done to try and raise more funds? Do we think we should stick as close to possible to that weekend for future years events? Or should we move it to later in the season? We had a limit of 40 teams on the event but only had 24 entries, do we think the Ware Drill Hall is larger enough for 40 entries? How many teams do you think the Drill Hall could hold (30,35,40?) Should we lower the entry limit for next years event or is there another venue we could use if we reached the maximum limit? Should we look at hosting more open tournaments? If yes, how can we attract more teams from other counties to compete? Let me know your thoughts on some of the questions raised above

Hi, Does this figure include deductions (hall hire etc.)?

I thought that the whole day went very well, it was good to get to meet & play against mixed teams from outside the county. On raising more funds, the quickest way would be to encourage more entries. However, there is a limit on the capacity of the Drill Hall (I don't know what it is but 40 teams may be a bit tight). Timing, now that this event has been introduced it is probably best to stick as you say to the nearest possible weekend and maybe give the event a bit more promotion?

Hi Ian, I'm glad you enjoyed the day. I agree that would be the best way to raise more funds but am also unsure how many more teams we could accommodate at the Drill Hall. I'm hopeful of more entries from other counties next year if we get the forms out a little earlier. Also hopefully bowlers from Essex/Cambs/Beds/Suffolk will pass on that it was a good tournament. I was really pleased with the turn out from Hertfordshire based clubs. I think we had more teams there then we would for our county fours. With regards to the date I think we may have to stick to close to that weekend 1st/2nd weekend of the month. I think this is one of the few weekends where there is a gap on other counties calendars.

I've booked the drill hall for Sunday 7th September for the 2nd mick and Sandra memorial pairs, I'll start advertising it up on the website soon. Hopefully if we get the word out earlier we will beat last years entires (24)

Hi Pete Do you think holding the competition later in the bowling calendar would attract more entries? I think it may. Early September the outdoor season is still ongoing and many carpet bowlers who take a summer break do not start back until mid to late September. Would it be an idea to get some feedback from other county secretaries to see what the bowling calendar looks like for later this year?

Hi Jamie, We will certainly take a look at it. Looking at the combined calendar on the eccba website though there isn't too many dates that don't clash with another. Think we will discuss at our next committee meeting, assuming how if we change the date you will make sure there are at least 10 Cambs teams entering?
